Three simple designs include Shaker Style (without beadboard), Cottage Style (with or without beadboard), and Canterbury Style (without beadboard). More ornate styles include Hampton Beveled Drawer (with or without beadboard), Hampton Framed Drawer (with or wihout beadboard), and Vineyard Style (without beadboard). When you consider the beadboard-inclusive options, those 6 styles actually add up to 9 distinct styles. Combine those styles with over two dozen finishes and you have over 200 possibilities for some of the individual pieces!
Bedroom Source Bookcase Options
One example of a piece with many customization options is the Bedroom Source Bookcase. In addition to the 2-Drawer Library Chest, which comes in your choice of 5 styles, Bookcases can be combined with other furniture pieces thanks to the 5 Hutch options, including the Corner Hutch with a full back and an included single adjustable shelf.
Freestanding Bookcases add plenty of customization options, including widths, heights, and number of shelves. While standard bookcase depth is 12 inches, and the standard shelf depth is 10.75 inches, the depth can be customized to 16-20 inches. Additional adjustable shelving can also be added, along with base doors. Crown molding is also available in some styles. Standard widths are in 6-inch segments, ranging from 24 to 48 inches, and then jumping up to 60 inches. Standard heights are 24, 30, 36, 48, 60, 72, and 84 inches. Number of shelves that come standard include one shelf for a bookshelf that is 24 inches tall with an added shelf for every 12-16 inches in height that you add to the bookshelf.
