Ahoy, me Hearties! Landlubbers and Sea-fearers alike may not realize that the idea of a Captain's Bed originated aboard ships. While sailors' beds have traditionally been built into a ship's design, today's Captain's Beds mimic the sea-worthy design by incorporating storage into the raised platform of the bed. Just like ships sailing the 7 seas, many families consider floor space in their homes to be at a premium — which is precisely the reason to consider a Captain's Bed for your little lad or lassie.

A pirate's booty doesn't always have to be buried, you know! There's no doubt about it — too much is just too much! If you need to purge some of your kids' toys or clothing, by all means, do so! Similar to Loft Beds, Captain's Beds allow you to use the floor space for your child's bed as a multi-tasking space. While Loft Beds typically provide extra floor space (for play or study purposes) beneath the bed, Captain's Beds allow you to use that under-bed space specifically for storage. Because a Captain's Bed is not as high as many Loft Beds, it's a safe option even for young children. Our Sierra Space Savers line includes Captain's Bed options with extra storage built into each step of the staircase. Options for those beds allow under-bed storage space to be used for traditional storage drawers, an extra bed as well as storage, or a combination of storage and study. Simple Solutions for a Shipshape Room
Not all Captain's Beds are so high that they require stairs to climb into them. This Valley Captain's Bed has a simple design including a potential of 8 drawers as well as open storage spaces. Other alternatives include this 4-drawer, 2-door model and this one with 5 drawers.
